about

The skeleton of this song was written in Summer 2009 -- the inspiration for the lyrics being Psalm 119. I was going through a time in my walk with the Lord where I was really practicing learning to hear His voice, and His words for me, so this song was a very natural response to that. Trusting the Lord's goodness has also been a real challenge many times in my life; the chorus in some ways is a declaration of truth against my own fears and doubts. The drums were tracked at a friend's apartment, and the rest of the song was recorded at our house in College Station, TX.

lyrics

How sweet are Your words, O God, my King / Sweeter than honey to my soul / Come speak to me now, for Your child is here / I long to hear Your voice

O Lord, Lord / You are so good / You are so good

I'm faint with Your love, O Fire of my heart / At midnight I rise to sing Your praise / Come clothe me in robes of righteousness and grace / I long to reflect Your face
